Our idea is that after 2-3 years we would do research and start investing (here in Switzerland).Since we're just starting, we would like to pay only 1.5% tax, since that's what all the startups in our area pay when they make a profit. Is this possible? Do you have any info on how many businesses and what fields it is possible for non-residents to do this? Thanks! ====== MalcolmDiggs I'm assuming you're setting up a business in the EU? If so, you'll need to be resident in the EU for tax purposes. If you're setting up a business in Ireland it may be possible, but it will require some clear-cutting of red-tape on both sides. ------ iso-8859-1 I don't know, but go for it. More important is how do you want to do your business. Do you want to make it a tech company? How much capital do you want to use? In any case, for small tech businesses, the simplest way is to use a legal entity like a limited company, which you would own. My girlfriend works with a number of startups and she tells me that a great number of tech startups, especially Irish tech startups, have surprisingly high personal tax bills. They actually end up paying higher tax rates than those of their employees. ------ MalcolmDiggs The goal of setting up your company is to set it up as the way you would do things if you were resident in that country. The idea is to reduce the paperwork, make sense of the tax laws, and take advantage of tax reduction systems. You can ALWAYS change the entity later on. I've done this many times. If you're just starting, I'd look into forming a simple S-Corp. Do you have a spark 1 student book by viviane evans 9780142369046 audiobook reviews.
